ABOUT Workshop on Wheels
The Challenges of Teachers
According to Bill Gates, "Preparing the youth across the world to thrive in the future
knowledge economy is a daunting challenge, but one that must be and can be solved. The future is defined by disruptive technologies. Therefore, disruptive approaches need to be applied to the education system."
There is a need to transform schools starting with the teachers that guide them.
However, teacher must change as the curriculum evolves with the needs of the 21st century. The curriculum of the 20th century was
subject based and weighed towards memorizing facts.
Whereas modern curriculum is now being injected with new 21st century skills and
competences that can only be taught through exploration, practice and feedback.
YMWB is LBFI's initiative to look for innovative ideas which aim to augment the educational system in preparing students with skills to better equip them for the real world. The challenge of the youth is to build up their competences in communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving. In doing so, they need educators and allies to support their ideals in nation building. Their voices must be heard; they need to be integrated with their family and community.
